The 109th edition of the men’s Tour of Flanders was billed as a battle of the men of spring. Between them, Mathieu van der Poel, Tadej Pogačar and Mads Pedersen had dominated the biggest one-day races to the extent that Hugo Coorevits dubbed them ‘supersonic aircrafts’. But what of Wout van Aert, the big Belgian favourite looking to deliver the first ‘home’ win since Philippe Gilbert in 2017. Daniel Friebe and Lionel Birnie analysed the action shortly after the race finished in Oudenaarde. Rose Manley and Rebecca Charlton reviewed the women’s race, where SD Worx were the hot favourites. Could anyone mount a challenge to them and their double world champion Lotte Kopecky?
Both episodes are online now. Our regular episode will be released later in the week as we look forward to Paris-Roubaix.

Our spring coverage is supported by Laka
A big welcome back to Laka, who supported The Cycling Podcast from 2018 to 2021 and have returned as title sponsors of our spring Classics coverage.
Why more cyclists are switching to Laka
The Spring Classics are where legends are made – cobbles, climbs, and unpredictable chaos. Whether you're braving the pavé of Paris-Roubaix, climbing the Poggio at Milan-San Remo, or just tackling your local roads, you need specialist bike insurance that goes further than you think.
That’s where Laka comes in. Unlike traditional insurers, Laka’s collective model means no fixed upfront premiums. Instead, your monthly contributions are based on actual claims within the community – so fewer claims mean you pay less. And with no depreciation and no excess, your gear is covered at its full value.
But what really sets Laka apart? Their award-winning customer service. Just ask Hugo: ‘I was expecting a long and tedious claims process, but instead, Laka stepped in and transferred the full insured amount for my damaged bike – no hassle, no delays. I don't think many companies would go that far to support their customers.’
Laka is proud to be sponsoring The Cycling Podcast’s Spring Classics coverage, and listeners can get their first 30 days free with the code TCP30 at laka.co/tcp. Because when the road gets rough, Laka’s got your back.
